Probably the only time in history we'll be able to say this, since they're usually quicker than everyone else on the trigger: We scooped the New York Post. :)
Does at least part of this story sound sorta familiar? Like from yesterday? (Ok, the Post fleshed out a few of the details for us):
"The young Harvard-educated Wall Streeter jailed yesterday for masterminding a bizarre insider-trading scam involving a crooked banker, a Croatian seamstress and an exotic dancer has a passion besides the stock market: ballroom dancing.
Eugene Plotkin, a 26-year-old resident of New York, does ballroom dancing competitively and has a side job as an instructor, his attorney, Martin Schmukler, told The Post....
Schmukler said he told the judge about Plotkin's extracurricular interest Tuesday afternoon at his client's arraignment to answer a slew of charges for securities fraud and insider trading.
"I think anybody would be impressed with a person who devoted themselves to an art form," he said. "He's a wholesome fellow."
Plotkin competed while at college, as part of Harvard Ballroom's dance team, and is linked to the Greater New York Chapter of USA Dance.
Plotkin's girlfriend is a "well-known" ballroom dancing instructor, Schmukler said. He declined to provide her name.
She is scrambling to pull together money to help her boyfriend make bail, which was set at $3 million.
Plotkin's parents, who live in Palo Alto, Calif., are trying to secure his release from a downtown jail by putting up property and cash as collateral....
