After Carl's blog finally went live, he was criticized in a 6/19/08 Chicago
Tribune blog article penned by Eric Benderoff entitled "Memo
to blogger Icahn: Give Power to the people, not your lawyers".
Benderoff took the new blog to task over its format and legalities. Icahn
responds, telling him that his activist status requires the format and
legalities, but that he (Benderoff) has missed the mark: that the blog is
looking to expose bad corporate governance behavior, and hopefully over time,
some of the restrictions will ease, but for now, it is what it is.

At least that's what Reuters is reporting. We hope that it's not just another tease, with his lawyers somehow getting in the way again -- that had been the excuse. And we're sure he'll have plenty to talk about. We suspect that the day chosen to lose his blogging virginity is no coincidence -- it's the day of Biogen Idec's annual meeting, and Carl's embroiled in a proxy fight with them, trying to his slate of 3 board members elected so that he can force a sale of the company; he owns around 4%. Most sources seem to favor Biogen to win the fight. But no doubt there will be choice words and we're waiting with anxious anticipation....

There'll soon be a new blog in town, penned by none other than famed activist investor Carl Icahn. He'll focus on what he perceives to be management problems at public companies, including ones that he's not currently involved in. There's not much there right now -- just a front page that says "Blog Coming Soon" with a picture of the man. We look forward to its launch with anxious anticipation.
