Cantor Fitzgerald goes against the grain and hires in fixed income

Fancy that! A Wall Street firm that's actually hiring, not firing!  Cantor Fitzgerald added nine to its fixed income capital markets team (including mortgage-backed)...

The company said it added five managing directors, three senior vice presidents and one vice president. The nine new hires will focus on mortgage-backed securities, taxable fixed income, institutional fixed income, corporate bonds, asset-backed securities, U.S. government agencies, high yield, distressed debt and structured products.

Cantor Fitzgerald also announced the promotion of Shawn Matthews as executive managing director, heading the firm's Debt Capital Markets group.

The expansion of its fixed income business is in stark contrast to many other financial firms, which have been shedding jobs aggressively in recent months.
